A Brogue Derby has got the typical scottish hole patterns with open lacing. The Brogue got popular in the 19th century and arised from traditional scottish shoe handcraft.
Originally the Brogue was weared for hard fieldwork, where they often get wet. Therefore the „brogueings ( holes)“ had the intention to let the shoe drying faster. Later on the Brogue established in the more aristocrat society. The „brogueings ( holes)“ become only decorative, added with jagged edgings. A new mix with the model Derby was created.
